​You are obviously using flash, so try using ISO 400, f4 and drag the shutter a little to bring in the ambient light you have in the background, lets say 1/30th of a second (could be slower depending on the venue). You may think this is too slow of a shutter speed but the flash helps not only to illuminate your subjects, but also to ​freeze them. I do this all the time. Have your camera on manual with those settings and your flash on auto, it nails the exposure 100% of the time. Good luck!

P.S. F4 also helps with your zoom (12-60) since you can use it at the wide end or the far end with the same results.
