And he explained it way better than I could.  First of all you can not use the tele-converter setting if you are using RAW.  So my settings are:

On the Function Menu turn RAW off by selecting JPEG
On the Shooting Menu I have--AF FRAME set to FACE DETECT, DIGITAL ZOOM set to 2X, SERVO AF set to OFF, CONTINUOUS AF set to ON,AF-ASSIST BEAM set to OFF, SAFETY MF set to ON, ignore FLASH CONTROL,ISO set to MAX 800 and RATE OF CHANGE set to SLOW,HIGH ISO NR set to LOW, IS MODE set to CONTINUOS and DYNAMIC IS set to 1

I then saved these settings as my C2 button so when I want to show flowers I can just turn the dial to C2 and I'm ready to shot closeups.  Hope this helps?  Except for the real closeup stuff these results remind me a lot of when I use to use a 100mm macro on a DSLR.  Here are a couple more shots from yesterday.

A single red bud bloom on a rock

Berries on a nandina bush

A Laurapetchulum bloom (I call it a razzle berry bush)
