I have almost always the landscape part of the HDL-6 grip on my E-M5. Without the grip the ergonomics of the E-M5 is rather poor, the heavier and bigger the lens the worse it is. The grip makes you to hold the E-M5 more comfortably and securely and brings the shutter release button in a much better position. In a successor model, Olympus definitely needs to change the design of the body.

On the other hand, if I want to go really small and light, I occasionally take some of my primes and the E-M5 without the grip. The E-M5 without a grip and the new 2.8 Panasonic zooms is a no go for me.

Even though the grip adds weight and a little bulk to the E-M5, it is still preferable to the very bulky (for a mirrorless system camera) GH3.
