I am sure you will get many different answers and I'm sure they will all have their own reasons. For the record I might agree with you. I am very pleased with the results from my 17-55/2.8 lens.

Remember, it's not the CPU that's in your camera that makes great images, it's the one located about 4" behind the viewfinder that does.
