Fuji claim a 30% improvement in noise over the X10

The noise in the shadows even at a low ISO setting like ISO 400 on the X20 is surprising. You can see noise on faces, in the shadows, etc.

What I have checked so far seems normal for this size sensor, and is perhaps better already, as I would expect, than the X10.

Once viewed at 50% the noise traces disappear, but there is still excessive NR to be dealt with.

Perhaps the in-camera, JPEG NR could be turned one step down below normal?

That surprised me as Fuji's claim on their website was that X-Trans would improve S/NR even over larger sensor cameras. Of course that now seems like marketing talk and not a reality.

I think you are letting your imagination run away with you.

Fuji claim a 30% improvement in noise over the X10, which approximates to 0.3EV of ISO adjustment.  In other words, what I can now shoot at ISO1250 I will probably be able to shoot at ISO1600 with the X20
