That's about the only statement I'd argue with. I'd rate all Nikon users about the same as far as loyalty goes - meaning that once you get into the system changing requires some effort (& $$$). To me a "boneheaded" move would be the assumption that D300 users are more loyal & because of that you could blow them off & not deliver what they want/need.
I have ten Nikon lenses purchased 3 - 8 years ago. Based on current used prices it would cost very little to switch systems. I have no intention of upgrading for at least three more years so resale will only get better.
Anyone who can afford ten thousand dollars for equipment to take family pictures can certainly handle a little loss to switch.
