Going on a cruise, the V1 will stay home.
Feb 24, 2013

I am working on what to carry on a cruise to the Panama Canal and back with stops in the Caribbean and Costa Rica.  My gear includes A D300, D90, Coolpix P7100 and the V1 two lens kit.

I really wanted to take the V1 as my walkabout but, the SB-N7 hasn't arrived.  So, the D90 and P7100 get to go on the trip while the D300 and V1 stay at home.

The P7100 will fit in a fannypack and has it's own flash.  The SB-800 and SB-400 will travel in the big bag with the D90 and the SB-400 can be used on the P7100 for dinner shots, etc.

I wouldn't have minded taking the  V1 in an extra small bag with the FT-1 and spare battery but, with no way to control light it can stay home and sulk.  The P7100 will do fine for casual shots.
