Sorry I got the impression you needed flash from a previous post.

Have you considered high end compacts, some of these are very good, some like the ZX-2 and Fuji x10/x20 can focus very closely in macro mode and they also make good compact travel cameras.

No, I really had not considered these. I had considered a Fujifilm X-Pro 1 and a X-E1 with their 18-55 mm F2.8-F4 lens but not those. I have a small point-and-shoot that I use for underwater photography in a housing. I am looking for some good glass with this one.

I firm believer in one body one lens to get started and then go from there.

I`ve seen far too many people that have got carried away buying this that and the other then realising they had made a bad choice or they have got something they could do without.

For macro there is nothing better than the Olympus 60mm, there`s a couple of really good reviews here, this lens is also great for out door portraits and the odd bit of telephoto street photography.

For travel I`d still say the OMD and 12-50mm lens, the lens is a bargain purchased with the OMD and its a nice performer.

Fun review

OMD + 12-50mm
