Alpha thanks for your comments re albums etc. It is useful to know how others work.
May try IDImager Supreme. I took part in the beta testing of Supreme ( on a Mac Air ) and in many ways liked it but the were quite a few bugs and did not seem a mature product which isnunderstandable as it is version 1. I believe it will mature but this may well take quite sem time as alhrough the deveopers are very commiited it is a small team. As I am having to move software as I am moving to Mac it seemed a good time to look at a more mainstream product hence LR and Aperature - nobody has suggested anything else. At moment having read around it is looking like LR, I did try the beta of LR4 and it is obviously needs to be learnt and will do all I want it is just that it will do a lot more than I need.
I am beginning to think both Aperture and LR will work for me and that it comes down to tone difficult choice between the two for which there is no right or wrong answer. It looks as though realistically there is not a more basic choice that will do what I require.
