would you buy Nik software now?

After exploring both, I think I'm going to go with Nik after all. Their product just seems more polished and flexible, and I've just discovered that it can be launched as a stand-alone, without the host applications they say you need. So I don't have to buy an upgrade of Photoshop to use it.
