Nobody knows except for Nikons peeps. Will just have to wait and see. Many use the D800 in crop mode and the comparison of a D800 image using crop mode vs. D7100 will be interesting to say the least.
The only time I prefer my D700 FX over my D300 DX is if the light is poor and higher iso values are needed.
Indeed 36mp images will be a task for the workstation and should be considered.
