High resolution means that reasonable cropping is not usually an issue. I cannot comment on the OPs work but I have seen many magazine photos which are mediocre so published frames are not an absolute measure of high IQ.
I have also seen prize winning photos on a Sony exhibiion stand which were only average so standards do vary.
I can agree that some fret unecessarily about resolution because they pixel peep at high screen magnifications forgetting that they are looking at sections of a photo which if it were to be printed would be several feet across !
