New thread: UWA 15mm & Contrast managing
Feb 22, 2013

As Baobob and Al Valentino mentioned, i want to start a new thread concerning DR-settings and film modes. Today i went out and had a test by film mode bracketing:

As Al showed here, has

Provia the widest dynamic range (-5,8 up to +3,8)

Pro.Neg. S the 2nd widest dynamic range  (-5,2 up to +3,8)

Astia the 3rd widest dynamic range (-3,8 up to +3,8)

I set my X-E1 to DR Auto, the camera choosed then DR200.

Here are the pictures:

Astia, DR200

Pro. Neg. Std., DR200

Provia, DR200

As you can see, the contrast under the roof increases from picture to picture, although in the shadow and the green grass in the left lower corner. The blue sky is best in the Astia picture, whereas the clouds show less contrast. The other colors are most saturated in the Provia, then Astia and al least in the Pro Neg. S picture.

Another Picture:

Astia, DR200

Pro. Neg. Std., DR200

Provia, DR200

Here is the difference to see in the left upper corner: the green hedge.

I hope, that I could show some differences in the dynamic range of Astia, Pro Neg. Std. and Provia.

SO, the discussion is open, C&C welcome.

Cheers,

Fujidanny
