HDR panorama questions / WA distortion and halos

It might be a little too challenging, but have you tried the wide angle distortion filter in Photoshop CS6?  I have used that filter quite a bit, but I don't know how well it would do on something like this.  I don't have CS6 here at work, so I can't give it a try.
