2nd lens tested on D800E (DXOmark)

Last time this happened they removed it but here are the numbers:

Sigma 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG APO OS HSM Nikon

Sharpness:

  • D800E 36MP no AA - 21P-Mpix
  • D800 36Mp - 12P-Mpix
  • D600 24MP - 12P-Mpix
  • D4 16MP - 9P-Mpix
  • D3 12MP - 8P-Mpix
  • D3s 12MP - 8P-Mpix
  • D3x 24MP - 11P-Mpix

Overall:

  • D800E 21
  • D800 19
  • D600 19
  • D4 16
  • D3 14
  • D3s 15
  • D3x 16

Keep in mind this is a zoom lens. We need a nice prime to confirm the difference.

Looks at the numbers; here is the bad news.

D800 does not have anymore resolution than D600

AA filter seems to kill resolution.

The good news: D600 has as much detail as D800.
