Clarification needed: Smallest aperture (highest f/) to use with V1 lenses?

Hey everyone,
Sorry for a rather newbie question, but I need some clarification over the smallest aperture (highest f) to use on the Nikon 1 lenses. I have heard numerous people state that you should not exceed f/5.6 otherwise lens diffraction is noticeable. I have also read several lens reviews (for the 10-30, 18.5 and 30-110) that state the same - that degradation to the image is noticeable by f/8 and certainly by f/11 - particularly the sharpness of the image.
However, I have seen many members post their images on this forum whilst using apertures exceeding f/8 and f/11 even...and yet there is apparently no noticeable image degradation.
Please can anyone else help clarify this. I have the 10-30mm lens, 18.5mm and 30-110mm. A lot of my pictures are of landscapes and buildings where I want maximum DoF, but am not unsure of how far I can push the aperture before hurting image quality.
Help Thank You.
