While there isn't software based "background defocus" you can get some bokeh (like all cameras) by just getting closer to your subject wide open or shooting very long with your background very very far away.  You definitely get more than your normal compact like from a Canon S95/100/110.  I've attached some quick snaps to illustrate...works well with food for you foodie bloggers out there.
