The image formed by the lens is unchanged regardless of the camera behind it.” I know that the sensor is capturing a smaller field of view on the crop factor cameras. It just feels nice to be back in familiar 35mm territory again.

Rockwell is wrong, or at least misleading. It is true that the circle of confusion is the same at the same aperture, but you want a smaller circle of confusion on a cropped image to get the same depth of field across the whole of the frame you are capturing.
