Couldn't agree more with this statement. Also, based on the D7100's pricing as well as the current pricing of refurbished D600 's I am doubting where a D400 could fit into the lineup.

Perhaps this is Nikon's way of saying "if you want pro build and full pro specs - buy pro level" and (for now at least) that is FX D800/D4.
