If you meant 50/1.4 then it's a 30 year newer design with R&D costs at 201x prices not 198x ones (in fact the development costs on the old one will have been recovered/written off years ago), it's SSM & yes, Zeiss licencing costs. & they won't be anticipating selling as many so R&D has to be recovered on a smaller no. of lenses.

I don't think that is strictly true particularly the 30 year newer design thing.

This is a 50mm lens we are talking about which has got to be about the easiest lens to design of the lot.

The R&D costs for this will be very small.

When you consider a Canon 50mm F1.8 costs £82 and an F1.4 £279 and the Sony 1.4 (ex minolta version) £292 with a second hand Minolta 1.7 £90 or less the price for the new CZ is way out of order.

Think about how much you are paying over and above the cost of a F1.7 lens.

It will probably measure better than any of them but this price is out of the Leica school of marketing and in my opinion has little relationship to the technology that has gone into the lens.
