Focus assist light on E-m5

Greetings,

I'm trying to be as inconspicuous as I can to be able to take as candid a picture as possible, so I've turned off the focus assist light.  Now the question is how much does the focus assist light help? or am I hampering the capability of the e-m5 alot by doing that.
