what is the future of APS-C?

was just looking at the diffraction limited aperture chart on cambridge color website.
depending on what parameters you plug in, an 11in print at 25cm (20/20 vision - which I don't have) [uncheck the"based on pixels" checkbox] from a 24Mpx APS-C camera is diffraction limited at f/5.6
we are expecting higher megapixels-less noise- as sharp or sharper images at pixel level- higher frames persecond and higher DR from new APS cams
can this be delivered?
more FPS may make SOME 1Dx potential buyes think twice? low noise, better DR and sharpness a challenge better met by FF? price of more advanced APS probably has to go up and may seem unreasonable compared to entry level full frame.
so go mirrorless with APS-C? already got MFT with size advantage to compete with. EOSM not exactly setting world on fire.
Thom Hogan editorial about DX users not being serviced, is this a new trend? FF is future for everyone? I am not worried now because I have my 50D but in a few years it's hard so say if an affordable non-DLA entusiast APS-C DSLR will be available! just some thoguhts, what are yours?
full dislosure- I have a 5DmkIII
