Help: is this Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt-Shift OK?
Feb 21, 2013

Hi All,

I am testing a Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt-Shift for the Scheimpflug principle i.e using the dow-ntilt to have in focus the objects in the foreground and in the background. Thus I have down-tilted of 1.5 degrees the front element. In live view I have focused the upper part of the image using the tilt mechanism, then I have scrolled down (in live view) to the foreground of the frame and focused (on the focus chart) with the focusing ring. For accuracy I have repeated this precess 3 times and set the f/stop to 8.

What I do not understand is why the central portion of the frame is not in focus as the top and the bottom of the image.

Is it a problem of the lens or it there a explainable reason why the image is not sharp in the middle portion of the frame?

Thank you for any help

PS the first image is full size (JPG), the second one is cropped 100% (from the RAW)

Full image at f/8

100% from RAW
