Well, if I were to attempt to write anything other than "vinho tinto" in Portuguese, I would probably tell, or more accurately, warn, the reader that some very bad Portuguese is about to follow. However, our Brazilian friend's English proficiency is better than some native speakers I have run into. I don't blame someone for making such a statement, but in this case I thought it was not necessary and that he might like to know that.
