CF reader recommendations please.

I am using an old Sandisk Imagemate 12 in 1 reader to download from CF cards into a 2yr old i7 iMac.  Out of interest I timed the download times for 2.13 Gb of raw & jpeg data and found it to be 2m 11s using a 266x Kingston card and 1m 48s using a 400x Transcend card.  I then tried the same download using a Sandisk SDHC 30mb/s card directly into the iMac slot and that took 1m 15s !!  Out of interest again, I tried the SDHC in the card reader and it slowed to 1m 50s.  So the card reader is the bottleneck.

The card reader does go through a USB2 hub.

Any recommendations for a faster CF reader, need only be USB2 as my iMac doesn't have USB3 and I believe FW800 CF readers are as rare as hen's teeth?
