This is definitley a mixed bag: it explains why it is an A58 and not an A59. Best news about that could be that it reduces the price of the A57 even more.

Why was the nice A55/57 LCD screen abandoned ?

Could anybody confirm what it means

- "Non stop Live Image" - such as: no more "slide show" ?

- Multi Interface shoe ? former Sony flashes useable, without adapter ?

I may be in the minority, but I hate the swivel tilt screen on the A57/A65. I liked the screen on the A330->A580 much better, even though it has less articulation, it was easier to take low angle shots, and it didnt feel as fragile as the A57/A65 screen.

As for the other changes, the A58 is still a much better camera than the A57

  1. OLED EVF. Its a big deal, thats the only reason I sold my A57 for an A65
  2. Easier to use, and sturdier tilt screen
  3. Better DR
  4. Better High ISO, the A57 was already the best High ISO SLT in the line up

Negatives

  1. less articulation on the screen
  2. Plastic Mount (People are not going to mount 70-400mm lenses on this camera anyway)
  3. Slower speed
