Marketing-wise maybe they should have labelled this the A38 and we'd all be less critical of it.

Regardless, I was wanting an improved version of the A57 and this isn't quite it with a mix of ups and downs.  Maybe they're planning on eventually bringing the A65 successor out at a reduced price to somewhat fill the gap and create more distinction between the 65 and 77 but in the absence of any evidence I don't really want to wait for it as I'm shopping for my first DSLR rather than replacing an existing one.

At least this means that I don't feel like I need to wait until April to buy a camera now - I can just take my pick of the existing models.
