Among all the regular updates Sony even managed to do something quite surprising (Cyber-Shot RX1) and, if its experience with NEX is any indication of the future, it is gauging market response and deciding / has decided what to develop next. As lower end NEX models begat the NEX-7 and then the middle range NEX-6, it is only logical to expect, if the response to RX1 was strong enough, they will indeed release a full frame interchangeable lens compact camera. With an integrated viewfinder would be my bet.

No, the difference is that over there in Sony land, by virtue of constant improvement and actual communication from the company, users do not once need to question whether their product families are to remain alive.
