I did sell it due to its weight but that was only because it was taxing on my neck and shoulders and my arm after several hours in the field, i can hold the 500/4.5 which is less then half the weight and the same weight as the 560 all day long.
That's good, but I don't think it takes a lot of imagination to think that there will be people that will find that they can't hand hold the 560mm. People seem to come is a lot of shapes and sizes afterall.

Mike - it seems to me you take good photos, but that doesn't justify you being insulting. How do you know what experience other people have? It seems from what you've said that you are well used to carrying and using large lenses; fine, so be it. I agree with Russell that it's not unreasonable to assume that some will not have that capability - but that wasn't what I was saying. I was merely reacting on the basis of seeing the lens on a tripod and the way in which someone standing next to me was using the equipment to take photos. That person had plenty of experience with large lenses, and his view was that it was best on a tripod - for what he wanted to do with it. You might choose to use it differently and so might Chris; fine.
So, please, don't carry on questioning the capabilities, experience or imaginations of people you've not met.
