Awsome.. This is very helpful. May I ask if you can comment on how SLTs from SONY do in regard to the AF and shooting fast objects compared to the mechanism explained above about DSLRs?


SLTs use phase detect AF the same as DSLRs but with 2 slight differences:

1) they can continue to AF during exposure as there is no mirror swinging up interrupting the light path to the AF sensor.

2) they use PDAF even in LiveView (unless you have switched to MF ) so they have the fastesf AF in LiveView of any brand

1+2  above also mean that they have the fastest AF in video (albeit you have to shoot with a wide aperture to provide enough light to the PDAF sensor)
