i chose the 7-14 over the 9-18 because i did want the 2 extra mm and the extra sharpness. unfortunately the purple blotching whiel i tried to look past it because i loved the lens besides, just made it a crapshoot to use without constant shot destruction.

the 9-18 size and weight has been a plus though. and the fact taht i can shoot to my hearts content without the purple ghosting is a godsend. the 9-18 is pretty sharp however. and since i don't often get to shoot landscapes, i usually use the wide end (besides real estate) to shoot city architecture, the fact it goes to 35mm and totally out of wide angle range is actually quite convenient. i can pop off a standard FOV shot in between looking up and trying to get good building shots.
