P7100 part travelogue, part gearhead talk

Regarding Macro resulting in the blurry branch, it could be that the focal length of the lens was extended too far too allow for Macro mode to work at that distance. Many point and shoot cameras work better in macro shots when the lens is at or close to full wide angle. I don't recall how it works on the P7100, as I had it only a short time before selling it to my niece in 2011.
