They disappeared before or after you edited them? Which software did you use?
According to my exprience when connecting the Camera via USB to the PC some folders remain empty if you try to copy more than one folder at the same time from the card in camera to your hard disk.
They were 99 pictures in total and only 26 remained. They disappeared the moment I opened one of them to edit.I used Photo Gallery. Some of the pictures were taken a few days ago,but there was only one folder created. The thing is that the settings of my camera software are to erase the pictures after importing- I was wondering if they are just gone or I can search the pc.
That doesn't sound good to me. However the missing pictures should still be on your harddisk somewhere. Maybe try the search function using the file name next to the existing ones.
I don't use any automated importing software from card or camera and would suggest that you deinstall the software or disable this function as well as the 'erase after importing'.
Memorycards are cheap these days and I use a 16GB that can take almost every photo I am taking within 12 months. I import them via USB into my PC using the Windows explorer.
The camera setting opens a new folder each day and I copy this in my main hard disk folder before I edit or delete pictures. From time to time I delete in camera pictures from the play and choose menue in the camera.
For me this is a save way to handle all photographs. Think about it.
