The current NEX 7 already smashed these cameras in almost all cases (all but very wide lenses). Come to think of it, the NEX5r and 6 does too. The resolution from my NEX 7 with anything above 35mm completely kills my 5Dmk2, and 7D, let alone some M4/3 camera like the OMD. What a joke. This came from a reliable source? Pfffft. I'd bet the DxO Mark sensor scores back this up too.
I think you've misquoted SR -- you've tagged the word 'sensor' on from the next sentence & implied that is what is being compared, where in fact it is used as 'Sensor, viewfinder and autofocus have been improved.' Much as I like my NEX7, if those three things have been improved, I'll be a happy buyer.
Rumor sites are just that, but SR has enough hits, and the reality that a new 7 is due eventually, likely makes this a pretty likely 'rumor'
