Re: Pentax has a nice walk-around zoom lens? LOL!

The 18-135 that PZ tested was clearly a dog. It was not Klaus's fault, he sent the lens back for repair and Pentax Germany told him it was in spec. For a fair review of the 18-135, look at the in-depth review done by Pentax Forums, the user reviews at Pentax Forums and this review:

The 18-135mm is on my camera most of the time. It is a solid choice, slightly better than the Pentax kit lens, but mechanically in another universe. Bokeh is a particular strength due to rounded blades. There are plenty of more capable lenses in the Pentax lineup, but the 18-135 is a solid start. Even though I have more capable zooms, they stay at home. My main kit is the 18-135 with supporting primes (DA 15mm Ltd, DA 40mm Ltd, D FA 100 macro, DA*300mm) and 10-17 fisheye.

Aside from some pretty spectacular specs for the price (100% coverage OVF, weather resistance, dual control wheels, AA battery backup), the K-30 is interesting because it has CDAF that is just as capable as a MILC, with focus peaking.

PS See here for my comparison above of the vaunted Zuiko 50-200 vs. the DA*60-250:
