My best CCD equipped camera is the 20x zoom bridge Olympus SP-570UZ with a 10MP CCD.

But it is the 24x zoom pocket P&S Olympus SZ-30MR that I have always with me since more than two years ago, and it has a 16MP BSI CMOS, same size as the CCD in the SP-570UZ. I recently compared photos of the same rose taken on both. The BSI CMOS sensors turns out to produce deeper shadows. On other subjects, highlights have more detail as well. The upshot is that the SZ-30MR with its slow lens matches the SP-570UZ with its lens faster by one stop over the middle zoom range in most situations. I will not buy a camera with a CCD again.
