Last night I caught the end of a TV advert which I believe was for a European sporty hatch back. The caption at the end was enjoy the sport enjoy the camera. A side profile of a car was shown then a quick glimpse of a rear right hand side of a camera was shown. This viewed showed the typical canon scroll wheel and function buttons. No model number was shown and it was a limited rear view but I am sure it was a canon, but equally it could have been a nikon as their bodies are similar at the rear. Either way a new camera aimed at sports is coming sooner than we thought. I will be watching ads from now on , if I am able to find it on youtube I will post a link.
Ps I do not thinkit was a 5D or 1 series shown as there is no reason to be secretive about an existing and available model.
So, let's see if I am following this correctly: You saw an ad on TV. There was a car in the ad that was clearly identified, and was the overt subject of the ad. There was also a camera; you are "sure it was a Canon," but it "equally could have been a Nikon." (I think that is roughly equivalent to saying you have no clue as to what kind of camera it was.) Either way, although you couldn't even identify the brand, you have concluded that (1) it was "a new camera," and it was a model that is "aimed at sports." (Note to OP, it is a bit early for Canon to replace the 1DX.) And (2) it is necessarily "coming sooner than we thought." And (3) it must be a Canon (not Nikon, or Fuji, or Samsung, or Lytro) who is sneaking this subliminal ad into the airwaves. Oh yeah, and it couldn't possibly be an "existing and available model," because, well, because uh, h-m-m-m, I dunno, 'cause they wouldn't be secretive about an existing model? (Hint, it is a 5DII, which is an existing model. Hint #2, identifiable product logos are almost always deleted from movies, TV, and advertisements to avoid copyright/trademark issues.)
All in all, you have done a fine job of coming to a fairly precise conclusion from, essentially, no information. (I suspect that you will do well in politics.)
But, I shouldn't be overly critical, because one of your key conclusions -- that it is coming out sooner than we expect -- was exactly correct. The 5DII came out about three years ago, which is considerably earlier that this advertisement.
Now let's put our tin foil hats on and see if we can figure out what happened to the little green men who crashed in Roswell, NM.
