But you are aware that the RX1 is actually smaller in dimension than the EM-5, the camera that the OP is comparing the RX1 with? The EM5 is 4.8 x 3.5 x 1.7" (12.19 x 8.89 x 4.32 cm). Mount an Olympus 17 1.8, you now have a larger camera than the RX1 in every dimension.

So it's difficult for me to hear a camera with a 35 f2 lens designed to cover a FF sensor that has the dimensions of 4.5 x 2.6 x 2.8" (11.4 x 6.6 x 7.1 cm) described as "large".

If the RX1 is too large for your needs, that's a whole other matter. The EM-5 or Pentax Q might me too large for you as well. But as you can see in the above graphic, the FF Sony RX1 is not much larger than the 1/1.7" P&Ss like the G15, P7700, or LX7. As far as the lens, most large sensor cameras don't have collapsible lenses that retract into the body, so if that's a requirement then you'll have a difficult time finding a suitable camera with a depth less than a few inches.
