I think you are correct. It can be done but it makes no sense to do it.

NEX has already been criticized for having large zoom lenses, due to the APSC image circle, when compared to the 4/3 image circle.

Now.... try to cover a full frame sensor and the lenses get even larger. And if you build a FF camera that only operates in crop mode... then what is the point? Why did the customer pay for  a full frame sensor he can only use in crop mode.

Obviously, a FF MILC camera needs lenses designed to cover the FF image circle. And once you do that you no longer have a small and light camera. You might as well just buy a Sony A99 and call it a day.
