Would you like a D800s? (D600 sensor, D800 body and AF, 6ftg/s)

Such a camera would be about the same price as the D800, which is $800-1000 more than the D600. There are a lot of people who just want full frame and don't want to spend nearly $3,000. Just like a lot of people buy the D7000 over the D300s.
