How different are Canon versus Nikon Camera Controls?

I greatly appreciate everyone's feedback and the helpful information.  I do shoot in Manual Mode (often with Auto ISO), and the lack of EC might be a bother, but not a deal killer.  It may take me a few days to adjust.  My last "real" camera prior to getting the D5100 was a Nikon F3, and I did manage that amazing transition.

I may be in the minority here, but I actually do read the manual from cover to cover, which should help.
