The other night we were at the night parade of the Quebec Winter Carnaval, it was -12C to -15C, I  used the OMD with 12mm f2 and Pana-Leica 25 1.4 both on auto-focus in marginal light condition, we were outside for three consecutive hours, camera was on all the time, took 257 pictures before changing batteries, (the first one served the day before probably around 50 shots or so) so all in all around 300 shots outside in winter.

Already used it in far worse weather, wet snow/sleet and another time -22c to -25c, while the battery lasted longer in the first situation (-5c), in the coldest one I shot at least 200 pictures before changing the battery.

As for the gloves, I use microfibers gloves (very thin) which makes any adjustments going relatively well, I don't use the arrows buttons to move the focus point (blocked it) I prefer to pre-focus on the center point then compose the shot, beats moving it accidentally when wearing gloves.
When not shooting if temperature's too cold I put my hands (one at a time, I always keep one hand on the camera) in my coat pockets so they stay warm.

To those who worry about using the camera in winter, I've done it all the time, where I live we have winter conditions for 5 to 6 months each year, would be a shame not to use our cameras.

No camera is perfect, and I prefer the smaller weight/size of the OMD even with the compromises in ergonomics, I never enjoyed shooting so much since the 70's, at that time the SLR's were much smaller than the bloated machines we have now (I work with a Nikon DSLR at work). Though I must say that I believe they are lighter due to the composites material they're made of now.
