The OM-D is going to give you a lighter, easier to carry package. The K-5 is going to give you better low-light performance and faster AF in some circumstances. The good news is that both are great cameras, so you cannot make a bad choice here.

Which is clearly why I'm struggling with this decision, especially given the cost. The portability is really something to consider but is it worth sacrificing the pros of the K-5II for a lighter kit? I talked to local shop and played with both and it's almost a coin flip if I can get used to EVF

I had the same fears but EVF turns out to be in many ways better than the OVF (I'm talking about latest tech evf).

In good light is as good as ovf, but it excels in low light, where with ovf you can't see anything evf stays bright and you are being able to see what's happening there in darkness.

Next is the highlight/shadows warnings before you take the picture, what makes impossible to blow the highlights.

And than you have the image magnification (x5, x7, x10, x14) that, in cooperation with IBIS configured to ON-with-shutter-half-click gives you fantastic advantage over OVF with any manual focus lens.

and the slightly slower C-AF.

That can be a problem. There are way-arounds but if you constantly need C-AF stay with OVF/dslr for now. (and that doesn't include shoting kids or occasional sport, the OMD is perfectly capable of doing that).

As Gary said, you cannot make a bad choice.
