Obviously a case for the wrong tool for the task. A NEX or some other camera suited to kids running around and other casual memory capture. The D800 is designed for quite a a more demanding use, the best possible IQ and resolution the state of the art can muster in a compact format.

I don't understand all the anger at Nikon for making cameras they are making. Those of use who determine our needs and wants carefully and match those with the closest product, tend to be very happy with our Nikon choices.

Right now and for a full generation of models, every class of DSLR has a Nikon model sitting at the top of its class. In fact, every single current model has higher DR and lower noise than ANY model by the other manufacturers that have ever been produced.  Nikon is doing many things right to be on top in all those classes. I have no doubt that the D800 is the best camera for my use than any camera ever made, it has been a tremendous addition to my kit.

Instead of whining about one model not fitting one's need, why not focus on getting what does and go shot some photos? Every time I come back to visit this forum, the same whiners are going on and on about how bad Nikon is for not listening to them. Why should they, none of us want to listen to such unproductive, uninformed childish rantings. We want great photos and the D800 is just such a tool to help achieve them.
