Manual 50mm 1.4 Question

Hello,
Today I am going to buy a manual Nikkor 50mm 1.4. There are two options before me at the same price. One is a Nikon S-Auto 50mm 1.4. I think this is the Kogaku model. It is this :

And one is, I believe, the AI-S version. It is this:

Although I know that the AIS is a relativelt newer and better version, I tended to like more the Kogaku one. It might be because the Kogaku is in a slightly better condition than the AIS.
There are two problems wit the AIS; its focusing ring stiff, and when I mount it onto my D700 and set Non-Cpu lens parameters, the aperture reading of the camera starts from f/4.0 when I set the lens to 1.4 on its aperture ring. I set it to f/2.0 and the camera goes to f/5.6. The seller said the focusing ring can be greased for softening, and that the lens needed to get cut from behind to do a proper aperture reading.
So what is your opinion? Which one shall I get ?
