Those three months were probably lost because your camera went back before a proper fix was available.

As a customer, not my problem! I literally don't care why Nikon produces a faulty product, and if that's what they're going to produce, I'm not willing to risk buying it. It is not my job as a consumer to make allowances for others running their business poorly or failing to meet challenges.

I'm a lowly D70 and D90 owner that happened on this thread. I've stuck with multiple D90 bodies because I wasn't willing to risk focusing, oil splatter (clearly visibile on the demo model I tried in store) and hot pixel issues of the D7000. Call me odd but I want a camera that produces in focus pictures that I don't have to post process for nasty oil splatter.

Add to that the fact that I can no longer go to a 3rd party repairer and I'm not going to be upgrading to anything for a long while sorry. I will wait until Nikon produces something that isn't a complete pain in the neck for me to own given that I no longer trust their service. If that means that all my cameras die in the next few years you bet I'll be looking into Canon, or maybe even (heaven forbid) Sony. Part of me really wishes I'd gone the Canon route all those years ago, even though I hate aspects of the Canon system and feature set/ergonomics are generally more to my liking on the Nikons. Had I bought a 300D instead of a D70 all those years ago, I wouldn't be participating in this thread.

Brand loyalty is for suckers.
