How do you counter his logical argument that VR adds a bunch of moving parts that have to keep up and counteract your random movements?  The sample rate and execution of VR would need to be high indeed to perfectly account for it.

Also I guess you discount his and others' personal experience of better shots without it on.

Do you shoot in full Auto?  Why not?  If the VR implementation is seamless, Nikon engineers should also do all the other settings for you as well?

There's no doubt that shooting manual one can do better than the camera does in Auto or scene modes.  Is VR somehow better than the photographer's choice?
