Is Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII worth over Sigma 70-200mm OS for an amateur?

Nikon VRII was around $2400, so Sigma 70-200mm OS at $1300 was a no brainer. Now, however, the NIkon is $300 less than its regular standard price, is it worth over the Sigma for an amateur?
My question is, if you were on the same boat as me (amateur, needing long FL, not too concerned about absolute best AF or IQ) would you be getting the newly discounted Nikon VRII, or still get Sigma OS?
My use case: mostly wide open 2.8 or at least 3.2, mostly shooting over 100mm, portraits, mild action, indoor events as well (flash acceptable for some but not others).
