It's a very capable budget lens no doubt (i used to own one), but having bought the Sigma AF 50-200mm F/4-5.6 DC OS HSM for my Pentax K-5, it's one of THE very best lenses I've ever owned (bar not many) and is crystal clear sharp throughout it's focal range and at all apertures (should anyone be considering one for the A-Mount: no in-lens OS though), but the SAL-55200-2 is also another excellent affordable short zoom. If you're ever after a superb budget macro, I've got a Vivitar AF 100mm F/3.5 MC Macro which is just fabulous and every bit as good as the Tamron SP AF 90/2.8 Di 1:1 in terms of IQ should you fancy one.
