We already pay for the warranty even though people might think it's free. Dell years ago used to include a 3 year warranty standard of course you were paying for this.  This is why there is "grey market" aka import versions that sell for less than the say "USA" version.  By buying the "import" version you save  money by not paying for a warranty and taking the risk of not having any issues with your purchase within the first year.  But I know Canon is known for fixing some issues for free even when an item is out of warranty.

Would you rather have warranties eliminated and save money off the purchase hoping problems will be few and cost less than the warranty would or pay a fair price for a product that is well built and backed by a company?  I'll take the well built product please.
